Events & School Visits
Are you looking for an art or comics teacher to teach a workshop for your school or event? I've delivered art programs and workshops in schools and non-profit centres across the lower mainland, including Burnaby Public Library, Place des Arts, Deaf Youth Today, and Richmond & West Vancouver district schools.
Please contact me at janice@youngartistsplace.com with teaching inquiries. I'd be happy to work together to develop a program for either kids or adults!
Sample topics
Here are some topics I've spoken and taught on before. I'm also happy to create a custom plan with you based on any lesson or themes you might want to tie in to.
Comic Stories
A 4-6 hour workshop that can be spread out over a number of sessions. I've delivered this workshop a few times at Burnaby Public Library, with great success! Covers the whole process of creating a one-page comic story, from brainstorming to scriptwriting to artwork. Tailored to any age 6 and up.
Portraiture / Caricature
A 1.5-2 hour session on drawing believable faces and capturing likeness. Can add an extra session to include adding colour with watercolours. For Grades 4 and up. Also for teens and adults!
Digital Art
A 2 hour workshop on basic drawing and inking techniques using digital software. Can add extra sessions to cover colouring. Suitable for beginners or those with some experience already. For Grades 7 and up. Best for teens and adults!
