Young Artists’ Place Procedures & Policies

Updated October 20, 2024

Mask Policy

  • You don’t need to wear a mask to attend Young Artists' Place classes. Please notify staff if you would like a mask, and we can provide one.

  • If your child shows consistent symptoms such as coughing or sniffling in class, even if they are caused by seasonal allergies, our staff may ask that they wear a mask out of consideration to their classmates. Students who have cold or flu symptoms that are not associated with allergies may be sent home.

Stay Home When Sick

  • If your child is sick, please keep them at home!

Sickness and Missed Classes

  • If you need to miss a class due to illness or an unexpected emergency:

    • Once per term, you may use our sick day policy and request a class credit for a missed class, which will be applied onto your account to use on your next purchase. (Terms are: Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Sep-Dec. Sick Day policy does not apply to summer camps.)

    • Students of private lessons may choose to either do the class over Zoom, or reschedule the class. If you do choose to reschedule, our 24-hour notice late cancellation policy still applies.

    • No refunds or make-up classes are granted.

  • If you need to miss a class for non-sickness related reasons:

    • Students aged 8+ may request to join the class virtually over Zoom instead. A parent or friend may need to come by the studio to pick up any work that they need for the class.

    • No refunds or make-up classes are granted.

  • If a class is cancelled due to instructor illness or other reasons:

    • If possible, a replacement class will be scheduled.

    • If Young Artists’ Place cannot run a replacement class, we will refund you for that class (or you may choose to receive a class credit to apply to future purchases).

No Food in Class Please

  • With the exception of summer camps, students should not bring any food or snack to class, especially not nut-based foods. You can bring a water bottle.

Withdrawal Policy for regular session classes, summer camps, and winter camps

  • The last day to withdraw and receive a full refund for the class is 7 days before the class start date. The registration fee is non-refundable.

  • With less than 7 days cancellation notice:

    • For REGULAR SESSION CLASSES: If you cancel between 1-7 days before the class start date, you will receive a 75% refund. After the class has already started, you have a maximum of 14 days to withdraw and receive a 50% refund. No refunds are granted after this 14-day period. If you paid upfront, the 50% refund will be issued to you. If you paid by installments, the second installment will simply be cancelled instead of being charged on the 14th day.

    • For SUMMER CAMPS & WINTER CAMPS: If you cancel between 1-7 days before the start date of the camp, you will receive a 75% refund. No refunds will be granted if you withdraw with less than 24 hours notice before the summer camp starts, or if you withdraw after the summer camp has already started. We are unable to grant class credits or refunds for missed days of summer camp.

  • In the event that pandemic restrictions tighten mid-session, and in-person classes are no longer possible, the remainder of the class will be delivered online through Zoom. Students will not be refunded, even if you choose to opt out of the Zoom class, but a class credit may be granted for special exceptions.

  • If the class is cancelled on Young Artists’ Place’s initiative due to non-pandemic-related reasons, all students will receive refunds or a class credit for future use.

Private lessons & semi-private lessons

  • Young Artists’ Place has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment of any kind. Young Artists’ Place reserves the right to deny service to the Client for any reason whatsoever, including should Young Artists’ Place feel that the safety of their employees, clients, or any other person is at risk.

  • Employees of Young Artists’ Place reserve the right to request that the Client wear a mask during a private lesson. If the Client does not wish to wear a mask, Young Artists’ Place will reschedule their private lesson with an employee who has not requested that their clients wear masks or provide a full refund if no employee is available.

Booking & Cancellation

  • Private lessons are booked monthly at the beginning of each month. Spaces in private lesson are subject to availability of employees. The Client must book a minimum of one private lesson every two weeks in any month that they book a private lesson. We do not do drop-in lessons.

  • If a private lesson is cancelled by the Client for any reason whatsoever, including sickness or illness, with less than 24-hours notice to Young Artists’ Place, a 50% cancellation fee will apply.

  • If a private lesson is cancelled by the Client for any reason whatsoever, including sickness or illness, with at least 24-hours notice, the Client will receive a credit on their account which can be applied to future private lessons.

  • If a private lesson is cancelled by the Client with at least 24-hours notice due to cold, flu, or COVID 19 symptoms, the Client will be offered the option of a credit for future private lessons or continuing the private lesson as scheduled via Zoom. If the Client does not inform Young Artists’ Place of their cold, flu, or COVID 19 symptoms at least 24-hours before their scheduled private lesson, Young Artists’ Place reserves the right to refuse to cancel the private lesson upon discovery of the Client’s illness, and a 50% cancellation fee will apply.

  • If an employee of Young Artists’ Place cancels a private lesson for any reason whatsoever, the private lesson will be rescheduled at no further cost to the Client. If the private lesson cannot be rescheduled with the same employee, the Client may choose to receive either a private lesson credit or a full refund for the cancelled private lesson only.

Policies specific to semi-private lessons:

  • All students enrolled must sign up for the full month, even if not every student is able to attend every session in the month. If you are a group of 5 for example, and student A knows in advance they are unable to attend some of the lessons in the month, there are two options:

    • 1) Student A can choose not to participate in that month. The group can agree to book the lesson as a semi-private lesson for 4 people for that month, instead.

    • 2) Student A can choose to register and pay for the whole month anyway, and the group can continue to book the lesson as a semi-private lesson for 5 people.

  • Please give at least 48 hours notice if you would like to cancel a class as a group, to avoid being charged a 50% late cancellation fee. The parent notifying Young Artists' Place of the cancellation is also responsible for notifying other parents in their group and making sure everyone agrees to have that class cancelled.

  • No refunds or class credits are given for missed classes for semi-private lessons.
